Best of the Best Forsyth, MO. Reported by Ben Henderson Throwing a big sweeping curve ball at the fishermen is probably the best way to explain the final tournament of the season which was held on Lake Taneycomo on Aug. 4th. The cold waters of Taney and it's rich vegetation provide anglers something out of the normal. But the Best of the Best fishermen figured out a way to connect and bring home the winning run as 9 limits came across the scales with a total of 62 fish. The setting for the event was the beautiful Empire Park in Forsyth, MO which provided a lovely back drop for the final regular season event of the year.
Looking for a shiny new truck? Check out Dennis Hanks! With the summer temps reaching the upper 90's the Center City staff took special precautions in the handling of the fish. Tournament sponsors "Please Release Me" provide the Best of the Best tournament trail with enough product to ensure that all of the fish released back into our area lakes are in top condition.
Terry Eckley monitors the holding tanks before the weigh in. Also helping out with the event was Central Pro-Am's own Kevin Bowling who graciously hooked up the weigh trailer and dropped it at the ramp before he went out on a day on the water.
Thanks Kevin! Hitting a homerun at this event was the team of Mearl and Roger Satterfield who stole the show with their five fish limit going 15.84 lbs. Along with $1,116 in prize money they also took home big bass honors and the $500 Yamaha bonus money.
Making a clean sweep at Taneycomo. Along with the bonus money, Yamaha also provided some nice draw prizes including a Yamaha winter jacket which was handed out as the Lucky 13 prize which went to Mr. & Mrs. Perry Ayres. Besides Yamaha; Minn Kota, Pro Guide Batteries, Eiron Breaker Lure Co. and Lucky E Strike all donated items that were given out at the end of the event. Center City would like to thank all of these fine sponsors for all of their contributions to the Best of the Best tournament trail. Besides winning the $200 Minn Kota/Hummingbird bonus money on Saturday, Dave Barker and Billy Bird nearly walked away with the points championship for the second year in a row. But the final event of the year is still to come as the Best of the Best anglers head to Bull Shoals Lake as Theodosia Marine will be the sight of this year's championship. All the anglers that qualified for the tournament will be fishing not only for prize money, but the right to call themselves the owner of a newly rigged bass boat.
