Stockton Lake-State Park
30 Boats

Reported By Ben Henderson

Stockton, MO. The clear, clear, waters of Stockton Lake was the sight for the second Best of the Best tournament series event and a good number of fishermen showed up for the event. The main producing pattern during the event was the flipping bite as most anglers reported taking fish by flipping the flooded bushes. Senkos, tubes, and jigs were the bait of choice as fishermen tried to pound out a limit in hopes of winning the top money amounts. At days end, only four limits came across the scales as Stockton once again proved to be a mystery to most.

The brother team of Mike and Mark Fann took the top prize with the best five fish limit of the day and secured themselves in first place in the points race too. They used a green pumpkin tube to take all of their fish which they found in the Little Sac Arm of the Lake from State Park to Cedar Ridge.

In second was the team of Jeff Bradford and Ron Tolliver with a five fish limit going 12.60 lbs. Along with $775 check they also took home the Yamaha bonus money of $500 for having the highest finishing Yamaha motor in the event.

A happy pair!

Fighting off a bad knee was Captain Rick LaPoint as he and JE VanNatta captured third place and a $200 Hummin’ Bird/Minn Kota bonus check.

Playing injured, what a trooper!

If the name Randy Colon sounds familiar it should, he once again won the G3 bonus money of $150 for having the highest finishing G3 in the event. On top of that, he took home a nice draw prize thanks in part to Battery Outfitters.

Calling all G3 owners, Randy needs some competition!

The Center City crew were all on hand and doing their part to make the event ran like clock work. With Perry Ayres handling the fish, Terry manning the mic, and the lovely Donna Ayres taking care of the important matters the event once again showed the professionalism of this fine establishment.

The crowd gathered around at the end of the day and waited to hear their names called as Center City and all of their fine sponsors doled out great consolation prizes.

No Billy, the boat isn’t a draw prize!

A special thanks goes out to the Ladies: Mrs. Billy Bird, Mrs. Gary Kilburn, and Mrs. Perry Ayres for helping out with the event. The Best of the Best Tournament trail would like to thank all their fine sponsors: Skeeter Boats, G3 Boats, Yamaha, Humminbird, Minn Kota,  Pro-Guide Batteries, Luck “E” Strike Lure Co., Basswishes Online Tackle Co., Please Release Me release formula, L & L Products Inc.,  Hamby’s Beaching Bumpers, Midwest Steel, Pro-Control Flush Mount Tray, Eiron Breaker Lure CO., and Purcell Tire.
